Summer has joined us with delayed vengeance-pumping up the heat and pulling your bodily fluids from you without asking...it is time to surrender and bask, dripping...had a short but pleasurable weekend with my friends, bill and maggie-took a trip out to the clark museum on saturday to see a wonderful show of arthur dove, and his impact on a younger georgia o'keefe (whose early work is more winning than her later, new mexican paintings, for my part)...both embraced the forms of nature in abstraction on canvas and some assemblages...also a very interesting edward steichen show at the williams college art museum, which also has a wonderful sol lewitt painting on the stairwell....overall, found them good, though at 87 and 89, slowly diminishing....maybe on to astypalea in the spring of next year-i miss greece, and particularly the islands...
