Having visited my friends in their new environment, a major change from their past lives, I was reminded again how important it is to be mindful and present with what is in our life today. The recent economic crisis, in large part created by a bubble of credit inflated by wishful thinking not founded on real pennies and dimes, has caused much pain and anxiety around the world for many people who were lured by the siren song of easy money...It gives one pause, as one should, to think about what is important in life that is not predicated on material gain or accumulation. One lesson I reach back to, taught to me by a friend some years ago, was to remember to breathe-and to be conscious of that breathing. It is important to oxygenate your blood, but also to be aware, particularly of things we take for granted, like breathing. Close your eyes and breathe. In Out
