Today is my friend, and artist, John O'Reilly's 79th birthday...An extraordinary man of vision and photomontagist unparalleled. His work has begun to have color again, after some decades of being monochromatic in its direct connection with Polaroid B&Ws, there has been an acknowledgement, however begruding, that it is time to accept that Polaroid has ceased production and support of the medium he has used so gracefully over decades...A gentle man and keen observer of human foibles and the darker side of the species, on occasion, his work is, for me, a joy of narrative and great resonance of spirit. Happy Birthday, today, John O!!
